Odyssey was a character that I created as a companion to the Silver Surfer for a Marvel story I had in mind. In my original story, she was created by Galactus to be a companion for Norrin Rad because he missed Shalla Bal. The Surfer rejected her, and so Galactus tossed her aside. Left drifting aimlessly through the cosmos, she came to rest on a over-populated and polluted planet, where she lived as a mindless vagrant for decades. Finally, overcome with bitterness, grief and hatred, she raged through the universe, searching for the Silver Surfer to destroy him for rejecting her.
There. That was then....
Santi has told me on numerous occasions to update my characters. A lot of them were created in the 80s and 90s, back when I still had some genuine creativity flowing through my veins. So, therefore, a lot of the characters are dated and out of style.
I knew that if I wanted Odyssey to work in the Super Earth mythos, she would have to be updated and revamped. Taking Santi's advice, I have spent the last several days trying to bring her into the present, as well as bring her out of the Marvel Universe and into the Super Earth Universe. Unfortunately, due to this translation, I had to take her out of the Mystery Six. She simply does not fit there anymore. She still is a cosmic character. She is still alien. She is still a "villain", yet no more a villain than Lobo or Venom.
Anyway, this one's for you, Santi, with a bullet.
