I was surfing the web, trying to spark my creative juices to create some new characters for Super Earth. Yes, I have about 40 more characters that I haven't made yet, but, I wanted to create something NEW. What better place to go? How about DevianTart. (I know it's DeviantArt, I just like to say Tart.)

How can I ever make another original micro after seeing these BEAUTIFUL pieces of art?! I almost want to incorporate HIS universe into MINE. But, while I'm at it, I should just incorporate Marvel, DC and Valiant, too. It defeats the purpose.

I would like to eventually make micros of this guy's characters, but, I'm too busy with Super Earth. If any of you get the motivation to make micros of this guy's stuff, let me know. I'd love to see them...

Silver Cyclone

Silver Cyclone was one of the characters created by Captain Jupiter and I back when we first started toying with the "Super Earth" concept for a MIB II thread in the Universe section. He originally had a sidekick named Kid Vigil, but, I never liked Kid Vigil. Never liked anything about him, unfortunately. SO, in my current Super Earth Universe, there is no Kid Vigil and never will be.

Silver Cyclone is obviously a play on Red Tornado, but, is closer to being a Batman/Shadowhawk type. Has anyone told you there is no such thing as an original superhero anymore?

The Secret and Mystery Six

So, I couldn't help it. I HAD to get the Secret done so the Mystery Six would be complete. Just finished him.

The Secret would be a cross between Spider-man and the Creeper. Slapstick, funny, but, with a darker edge. Average crimefighter who would work well solo or, in this case, on a team...

I know his colors and costume are a little out there, but, look at the Creeper's outfit! His is just as bad! If anyone wants to try their hand at updating his costume, please, be my guest! I could use the assistance on this one!

Saved as a PNG, the file has 256 colors. SO, all of the colors are messed up on this one. Collect the characters individually if you want them. This is just to give you an idea of what the characters look like together...

Doc Midas, Agent of W.O.N.D.E.R.

So, last micro for the weekend, and I give you Superbuddies' moderator, Doc Midas. I've incorporated him into Super Earth as a member of my team, Mystery Six. He is still an agent of W.O.N.D.E.R., so the character becomes something of a Nick Fury/James Bond sort of guy. This design is based loosely on Matt's take of the character (love your stuff, Matt).

Just one more character, the Secret, and I will have Mystery Six complete! Hip, hip, hooray!

Orenji Hayabusa the Onna Bugeisha

Just a quick one today. This is the character that I have chosen to take the place of Odyssey in the Mystery Six. The name is a little obscure, and it will take people time to figure out what it means, but, it is Japanese. Maybe I should just do the English translation. You figure it out ;)

Painkiller and Spearhead

Santi and I finished up 5 templates this week, so I made two micros utilizing some of them. They look pretty good, and I think that in the long run, the variety of templates will lend to a more realistic tone that is sometimes lacking with the regular micro templates.

Painkiller is a character I made in 1991, originally fashioned after Punisher and Lobo. His original costume was green and white, rather than the black and red. But, with the updating, we have this more contemporary coloring....

He's a vigilante, and has disagreements with both good and bad guys. Never in a team, this guy only plays it solo.

Spearhead is simply my version of Namor/Aquaman. There is a touch of Triton in there, too. He is a solo hero, but, also participates as a member of the Mystery Six.

The design on his chest is a real Atlantean symbol for the "Prince of Wands". 2012 is supposed to be the year of Atlantis. Woot.

I may make a micro tomorrow, may not. If I don't, I'll post the templates for these two guys...

Odyssey

I hereby dedicate this micro to Santi/Iceman.

Odyssey was a character that I created as a companion to the Silver Surfer for a Marvel story I had in mind. In my original story, she was created by Galactus to be a companion for Norrin Rad because he missed Shalla Bal. The Surfer rejected her, and so Galactus tossed her aside. Left drifting aimlessly through the cosmos, she came to rest on a over-populated and polluted planet, where she lived as a mindless vagrant for decades. Finally, overcome with bitterness, grief and hatred, she raged through the universe, searching for the Silver Surfer to destroy him for rejecting her.

There. That was then....

Santi has told me on numerous occasions to update my characters. A lot of them were created in the 80s and 90s, back when I still had some genuine creativity flowing through my veins. So, therefore, a lot of the characters are dated and out of style.

I knew that if I wanted Odyssey to work in the Super Earth mythos, she would have to be updated and revamped. Taking Santi's advice, I have spent the last several days trying to bring her into the present, as well as bring her out of the Marvel Universe and into the Super Earth Universe. Unfortunately, due to this translation, I had to take her out of the Mystery Six. She simply does not fit there anymore. She still is a cosmic character. She is still alien. She is still a "villain", yet no more a villain than Lobo or Venom.

Anyway, this one's for you, Santi, with a bullet.

So, I decided that it may be the time to share this site with everyone. I know that for the past month, the thirty or so people I've shared this with have been very gracious. I just hope the rest of the micro community is as well-behaved.

Hopefully, everyone will enjoy, and I can keep this as a public site. Keep in mind, if things get carried away, it will go private.

Counterspell

I snuck one more out for this week. Counterspell. He is a Mystical Android. A robotic master of the Magical Arts. Name the two Marvel characters I mashed together to get this one. Should be pretty simple!

I originally created this guy as a solo hero to star in his own stories in my fan-based continuation of Marvel's Marvel Chillers from the 70s. Over time, he has shifted to Super Earth, and now is solo, plus a member of the Mystery Six, along with Danger Man, amongst others. For those who are on the Superbuddies Board, Doc Midas is also a member of the Mystery Six. I will probably work on him next week, along with the remaining members Spearhead, Odyssey and the Secret. It's quite a unique and interesting team!!!!

National Anthem and Frog

These two are planned as "solo" heroes in the Super Earth universe. Pretty self-explanatory, take them for what they're worth.

National Anthem
This is what you get when you cross Superman with Captain America. Your basic generic superhero that battles crime and stands for the American Way. Of course, he can team up with anyone and everyone in the Super Earth Universe, so have fun.

Frog

OBVIOUSLY the Superbuddies member, Frog. This design was taken from Matt's rendition of the "frog" design. I always liked the design and character, but, the name leaves a little to be desired. Maybe "Amphibiman" or something like that. In my universe, he would be akin to Spider-man or Daredevil. Maybe even a "funny" Batman. Again, he could team up with nearly anyone in the Super Earth universe, and could even serve as a substitute member in either the Forever Five or the Mystery Six.

Now, Iceman, Captain Quebec and Emissary have all been annexed into the Super Earth mythos. I've simply done the same with Frog. Take it as a compliment to the original creator. I simply like the character!!!!

Back....

I'm back. I should have a new micro to post tomorrow, but, I'll play that by ear. With my new job, I'll more than likely be posting about 1-2 micros a week, due to time constraints. But, I won't stop, don't you worry about that.

I'm going to take a break on the Star-Jump Marauders for now. I have a couple other characters I'd like to get to, so, see you tomorrow...

Hiatus

I'm taking a break because I got a new job, and I have to go to training in another city. Needless to say, the computer stays here while I'm gone.

That being said, Santi is still working on the six templates I've sent him so far. Hopefully, when I return, Santi will have finished the temps, and I can start working again.

I want all of you to know, that without Santi's guiding hand in correcting/perfecting my templates, these new micros would be worthless. This is a testament to the soundness of Santi's style and ability.
